Like most teenagers, Sirius Black wasn't one of those "morning people", by which this meant that he was practically on the opposite side of the fence when it came to how he felt about early risings throughout the week. He didn't see the point in attempting to teach anyone when half the class was asleep with their eyes barely open in keeping up the pretence - how did that help anyone? It seemed that either the Headmaster honestly believed that rubbish about how mornings were good for "the soul" and brought happiness to everyone around or whatever the saying, or he delighted in causing some suffering amongst people who hated the early hours of the day. On many occasions, he'd been tempted to suggest that the latter was true, due to the attitude of Dumbledore in everyday life. He wasn't exactly living with the rest of the world in normal feelings towards things, perhaps he truly didn't notice the lack of commitment in his students at this time of the day or simply found it to be slightly amusing. Now that option, Sirius found himself considering several times, definitely seemed likely. Albus Dumbledore was rather well-known for his riddles and quirky sense of humour that the majority didn't understand and had fast given up on trying to comprehend. As much as he respected or even liked Dumbledore, he quickly found himself disliking him for setting such unfriendly hours for classes of very questionable standards.
Nobody cared about Double Potions. And yet here he was, having almost literally been dragged out of bed by Remus in order to make it to the classroom on time. Well, nobody that was entirely sane or worthy of an opinion. Severus Snape instantly appeared in his thoughts for a moment causing him to scowl. Upon passing the Great Hall and noticing the breakfast spread still being available, he'd backtracked and sat down immediately, reaching for every piece of food he saw being laid out in front of him. By now, his plate was noticeably full of various foods and he leaned back a little, enjoying the only happy thing about mornings. It wasn't until he was halfway through stuffing his mouth and stomach at quite an alarming rate for someone who wanted to be able to walk afterwards that he glanced across the table. Mostly out of curiosity, but also to observe any potential additions to the breakfast offerings. Placing a few more pieces of bacon onto his plate, he found himself catching the eye of someone else across the room, someone that distracted him from his pleasant thoughts of food. He frowned momentarily, wondering why they were so desperate to maintain eye contact with him, before swallowing a piece of egg and placing his fork upon the table.
Once again, he discovered that this same individual was still locking their eyes onto his, although he now considered that they'd probably been watching him since the moment he sat down. The thought was a little weird, but he shrugged it off almost instantly, thinking nothing more of it than simple admiration for his eating ability. He grinned to himself, deliberately breaking, what was up until that moment, intense eye contact, somehow amused by their confidence in such that they did not even pretend to be looking anywhere else. Finishing another few gulps of food, he straightened up slightly, glancing back in their direction. "Enjoying the view, are you?" Statements which were misleadingly phrased like questions were something of a habit of his, along with that formidable childish grin. "This is not an art gallery sadly, although, given my looks, I can see how you'd be mistaken." He raised an eyebrow, still the same roguish grin appearing and spreading across his features as he engaged the observer further in a difficult conversation. Difficult conversations were always entertaining, he'd concluded, with the temptation to provoke less casual, easy-going individuals with his joking tone.

Watching Sirius Black eat was something extremely fascinating as well as scary. It was just like watching a trash compactor devour anything and everything placed in its mouth. Terwynn sat there with her eyebrows raised and her fork placed into her pancakes on its plate, unable to remove herself from the trance that was Sirius eating. She attempted to just avoid starring, but since she knew the Gryffindor boy so well in more ways than one, she believed that her observation would just go unnoticed. Of course she was wrong, since he had something to say about it. Without even caring that he opened his mouth, Terwynn regained composure and realized it was also time for her to eat.
Sticking her fork into her pancakes again, Terwynn rolled the piece in syrup and then took her long awaited bite. "I just don't understand it," she blurted out while keeping her food to the side. She wasn't exactly impeccable with table manners but she wasn't a slob either. She always kept her mouth closed, unless she just had to say something that couldn't wait. "Firstly where does it all... go? And secondly.... how do you not choke yourself?" The phenomenon of Sirius' eating habits were well known throughout the group. She only wished that James, Peter and Remus were there to aid her in bothering their best friend. It was always something they did together. And even though the four Gryffindor boys were their own solid brotherhood, Terwynn liked to think that she was like their sister. Sister to everyone save Sirius. That was an entirely different story.
She drank her pumpkin juice and continued with her breakfast. She agreed that potions was such a waste of time. She didn't want to cook spells and offer stupid girls love potions. She didn't want to have to wake up to another explosion from some idiot who didn't know how to read simple instructions. But it was a class they were all obligated to take and along with Sirius, she wasn't exactly in a happy mood about it either. "I definitely could fancy a fag after breakfast. I left mine in the dorms," she said as she stroked back her wavy brown hair. She really just wanted to go to Hogsmeade with the boys and enjoy the weekend that was coming up. That and quidditch practice. "Don't forget we have practice later as well." With that she played a tiny hidden smirk at the corner of her lips, hoping that Sirius wasn't too distracted by his endless stomach to catch what she was talking about. Those days at the quidditch field, weren't always due to them practicing for a game.

The ghost of a smirk was now visible upon his face, as he considered the constant attention of the girl sitting opposite him, eyeing him as though she'd never seen him in this way before. Of course, the opposite was true. This girl was one of his closest friends and yet she'd never grown accustomed to his style of consumption even after the months he'd spent flitting in and out of her house during the summer. Hadn't she been paying attention to his eating quirks, if she viewed them as such, before now? He doubted it, since he often found himself catching her eye across the classroom at various points in lessons, as though she imagined he wouldn't notice. This thought alone caused him to grin getting some amusement from noting her slight discomfort at being noted - could he really ever fail to notice when that girl was glancing in his direction? According to others, the majority of the female population had, at one point or another, tried to gain eye contact, but he seemed to lack the observation skills or intensity to continue this "connection" unless he already had an established relationship with the girl involved. And Terwynn was such a girl. Of course, it wasn't specifically a certain type of relationship - he would have placed it in the 'friendship category' since he saw their interactions as friendly with occasional benefits for both of them, but he believed that his companion's style of thinking was so similar, he'd never stopped to ask if her opinion was exactly the same, because their attitudes confirmed - it was just casual.
Having finally eaten enough to satisfy his taste buds for the rest of the morning, he set his plate aside, picking up a goblet and draining the liquid before tilting his head to the side somewhat at her question. He wasn't completely sure what she meant to ask by these sudden and unexpected queries about the qualities of his personality that everyone else tended to accept or ignore. Had she really only just recognised that he tended to wolf down his meals instead of sitting there, painfully chewing every last tiny morsel? "Where do you think it goes, Ter? The same place as anyone else's food goes. Honestly, you ask some stupid questions, you'd think you're currently channeling my mother." What had now become a habit had originally started as an excuse for him to leave the table, or, in the luckiest scenario, exit the room and manage to avoid his family for the majority of the evening. It'd been a mind-saving solution to his parents' ongoing arguments about his wrong choices. He mainly chose to scoff and ignore them, but still they persisted. "You're acting like such a girl, it's almost weird. I think I almost miss the angry, passionate side." He couldn't hide the teasing gesture in his expression at these comments, unable to suppress his urge to laugh abruptly.
Turning for a moment to scowl at certain individuals that had some sort of inherent ability to annoy him through mere appearance alone, he managed to regain his attention to focus it upon his company when she made a comment about an activity that seemed far more appealing than the one scheduled. The idea of skipping class, since it was full of Slytherins and Slughorn's "favourites" was becoming so much more tempting and not because Sirius was unable to resist, but because he found the idea of doing other things more interesting. He'd spent most of his last few years rebelling against his parents, who attempted to force him to follow their customs and ridiculous rules and he'd obviously refused. Why couldn't he make a similar stance to lessons that were clearly a waste of his time? He no longer felt an obligation to do anything he didn't want to do and Double Potions was one of these things. He suspected, glancing at Terwynn, that she felt the same way. This was quite frequent that they shared opinions on matters like these, hence their impromtu skipping of certain classes. Apparently McGonagall didn't agree with his new-found life philosophy, thinking of it as worthy of several weeks detention instead of praise. His renewed sense of amusement crept into his tone, teasing her slightly. Feigning a voice of ignorance, he questioned her comment. "What exactly would we be practising on the Quidditch Pitch?"

When Terwynn found out she was a witch, she was about ten years of age. It was the time where she began to really observe things and have a mind of her own. She was always a smart girl when it came to doing things on her own. Her mother never gave her another option. Her mother was a good woman, however she just didn't know how to be a proper mother after she decided to have Terwynn. She just wanted to find a man that would take care of her and her daughter. However finding such a companion just wasn't easy for Amanda Pearse. Especially if she liked the kind of man who didn't want to stick around too much. The only one that did was Terwynn's Uncle Jackson, who showed her some kind of stability. He would check in every couple of months since Terwynn was born, making sure that his sister had money to pay rent and survive. Amanda was in and out of jobs, in and out of men, in and out of consciousness when she decided to do one of her drunk nights. Those were the nights when Uncle Jax would stay with Terwynn and take care of her. He was a good man and he always showed love for the girl. The only reason he wasn't able to take her in was because he moved around a lot and was never really home himself. If Amanda was really neglecting her when it came to food and shelter, he would have tried to have made it work out.
When Terwynn was ten, she attempted to sneak a midnight snack from the kitchen when her mother's boyfriend (at the time) was doing the same. He was a grunt of a man, hard worker, and thankfully not a pervert like the last one. He didn't like kids though, and he nudged Terwynn away from the fridge so he could get what hewanted. Long story short, the conversation got intense when Terwynn spoke out. After he struck her, her rage and fear were so intense that all of the glass and lights exploded. It was difficult to explain to Mummy what happened while the guy was trying to get glass out of his face and torso while screaming in pain out of the house.
The thought made Terwynn smile at the Gryffindor dining table, as she remembered why she loved being what she was. Being a muggle was so boring and pathetic. She didn't want to be like her mother at all. Once she found out there was something else in store for her, Terwynn couldn't wait to just leave for Hogwarts towards the end of the summer. Only last break, after her fifth year, did she bring back someone with her. Sirius Black. He had finally decided to run away from home, and Terwynn was more than proud and happy for him. She immediately offered him a place to stay, since her mother wouldn't even notice nor care. After about a week, it was very difficult for Terwynn to not bump into him with nothing but a towel on and vice versa. Things basically escalated and snogging was the least intimate thing they did from that point on.
It was a relationship that Terwynn was content with. And even though the sex was casual, she did love Sirius. He was one of her closest friends and if anything happened to him or the rest of the Gryffindor Boys of Mischief, she wouldn't really know what to do with herself. They were all like family, her only family save Uncle Jax.
Glancing at Sirius from across the table, Terwynn rolled her eyes and drank another sip of her pumpkin juice. "We actually do have practice today you dolt," she replied firmly. "However I do plan to enjoy a smoke before then, which would mean after we eat and not going to class..." Terwynn was a very blunt person, but having everyone around them know about her and Sirius' personal business wasn't an option. She liked her privacy, and she assumed Sirius liked his as well. "Would you like to join me? Since I am taking one of yours anyway," she asked. Sirius really was one to like jokes, and Terwynn did as well. Just not about playing ignorant to something pretty serious to most people.

Unbeknownst to his company, he'd already lost control of his thoughts around a certain topic and changed to another - the one that was continuing to annoy him - the idea of sitting through another three hours of Potions. It so concerned him that his mind had wandered now further and further away from the last question he'd answered, he could barely remember what she'd been mocking him at this point for. With Terwynn, their casual friendship and joy for being around each other meant that they frequently engaged in ridiculous conversations with mutual joking criticisms and so he wasn't particularly worried or even contemplating possible negative reactions to his lost train of thought. Besides, her thought processes, he'd noticed on a few rare occasions, often matched his, although he doubted that she was letting a simple thing like Potions classes bother her at that moment. It wasn't a surprise to anyone that he didn't fancy sitting through another lesson, but it was surprising to some extent that he was still considering attendance. It'd be ten times easier just to be incredibly lazy and refuse to move at all, just to remain seated in his current position for as long as he felt satisfactory. If he timed it correctly, it was possible to be the first person to sample the lunchtime offerings. Food was definitely more appealing than Double Potions, there was little delight to be found in the Slytherin Dungeons. The choice seemed obvious.
Except his lack of presence from a classroom didn't exactly go unnoticed and the first few times had turned into many more times until Slughorn was becoming slowly more and more surprised to see Sirius Black sitting in his classroom. He found his eyes drawn towards Terwynn's face only to see her also apparently deep in her thoughts and turned, without awareness of doing so, to his left, noticing a plate of muffins. Grinning in appreciation, he hesitated, before shooting his friend a highly skeptical look, as though to doubt her words. "What did you just call me?" He'd been so occupied with his new thoughts of muffins and other breakfast items that he'd missed most of her sentence, or he'd missed the bit with the insult attached. "The more you fight against me, the less likely that I'll feel generous with my possessions." A small smirk once again reappeared at the corner of his lips, making it entirely clear that he was merely joking, not throwing unexpected accusations in her direction. "I don't feel like sharing though. Sirius doesn't share good things." Reaching towards the plate laiden with the earlier noticed goods, he placed the tray closer towards him, examining each one in turn as though looking for something in particular or deliberately making her believe she needed to work harder to maintain his direct attention.
When he'd decided on two particular items, he continued to turn them around, still thoroughly amused by her attempts to convince him to accompany her. "I feel I should probably attend Potions today, however. Sluggie'll probably have a heart attack with that frustration if I don't attend one of his classes soon." Finally, he placed the first muffin back upon the table, shuffling back in his comfortable position, his eyes locking directly onto hers, a sign of mischief creeping into his voice. "But, I'm sure if you really want my company, you'll think of something. Use those womanly skills I've heard about and not seen much evidence of." A light bark of laughter left his mouth, taking a bite of the savoured muffin, before dropping it back upon the plate provided and stretching.
