HOUSE POINTS
Hogwarts prides itself on good behavior, attendance, skill, and bravery. Every year, a total of house points are counted up to determine a house cup winner. House points are awarded by professors based upon if they see or witness something that is quite amazing. House points can be taken away though if the professor catches someone doing something wrong. They may even take away points, if the student messes something up in a class. It is up to the discretion of the professor to choose who they give and take points from. This site will have many things to allow students to get those points or to lose them. Everything is a gamble, including house points.
EARNING POINTS
- posting frequently in your classes will result in points earned for your house. however, if you write that your character made a mistake in such as a potion or question, there will be less points added to your house's grand total. the maximum that one person can get for posting in a class for 5+ times is 10 house points. the attendance record and correctness of your posts involving the class will be recorded down by the professor. the top earning student will receive a total maximum of 30 house points at the end of the term for their respective house.
- joining clubs benefits your house as well. as with the classes, your participation in the clubs will earn you house points. unlike the classes, there is room for error in these clubs. if your character messes anything up, it does not affect the house points you earn. the maximum one person can get for posting in a club for 5+ times is 10 house points. the attendance will be recorded by the professor or club leader. the top earning student will receive a total maximum of 30 house points at the end of the term for their respective house along with an offer of being a club leader the following term.
- if a quidditch team wins, they will earn house points along with adding to who will win the quidditch cup. a quidditch team will be awarded a win based on the whole team's activity. thus if the team wins, each member will earn 15 points thus earning their house a total of 105 house points.
- posting in site wide events will benefit you. the student with the highest attendance in a site wide event will receive 50 house points. considering it's a side wide event, you will need to post 7+ posts to earn those house points. a second batch of house points will be given out due to it being a site event consisting of 20 house points. these 20 house points will be given to the character who gave the most detail in their posts along with having an interesting role in the site wide event.
- member of the month spotlights will be chances for students to earn house points. any characters voted for a otm, will earn 60 house points towards their respective house. any member that manages to win member of the month will earn 75 house points. that member may choose which house that any of their characters are in, to give the full 75 to. or they may split the 75 up amongst their characters' houses. any member with an adult character who is an alumni, their alumni's house will receive the house points.
- house points totaling 5 to 15 house points may be earned based on a professor's judgment. this may be based on - member activity high in certain boards, friendliness towards guests/other members on a daily basis, plotting constantly with other characters in the plottage board, helping others if they need help with something (such as locating the claims), and giving good suggestions for the site. character wise - saving someone from something such as a bully or creature, helping first years, etc.
- creating an application for a student will result in 10 points being rewarded to the house that they belong to.
LOSING POINTS
- participating in site events that involve a place that students are not typically allowed in will result 20 points lost for each character found in this event within an unspecified time (ex: if a professor posts in it and the admins & profs decided that posting three days before would be the cut off, anyone who posted within those three days will be punished. not the students that posted before. this limit will be held secret until the professor posts though so no one knows what the cutoff date is. a professor may not post at all, so it's a gamble to go to these events.). participating in these events though are tempting as they involve a lot of fun, risky things.
- students found in the forbidden forest by professors will lose 5 to 50 points. it depends what has happened in the thread (ex: if a werewolf attacks the character, it's more dangerous, so more points are lost) and also, on the character's age. if the character is younger, the points will be more less due to them not knowing as well as lets say a seventh year. if your character is constantly found in the forest, they may also result in a higher point deduction. it's all based on the professor's discretion. professors will not post in every thread since the forbidden forest is in fact an interesting place to be. students found at other locations outside past eight o'clock (this is determined by EST on your posts) may also receive a deduction of 5 to 10 house points.
- losing a quidditch match will result in a loss of house points. if a team loses, each member will have 5 house points deducted from their house. this will result in 35 house points being lost in total.
